BALLOON DROP
ART EXPO CHICAGO
Invited by Hank Willis Thomas Superpac Project: FOR FREEDOMS, Pope installed 700 balloons each filled with a statement submitted by incarcerated men at Stateville Penitentiary at Navy Pier Convention Center Chicago as part of Art EXPO.
At the end of the opening reception, the balloons were dropped from above and popped by guests releasing the voices of the incarcerated men to be seen and heard.
This project was possible with support of Prison + Neighborhood Arts Project and the Joyce Foundation.
