CHERYL POPE

Pope was honored as  the School of the Art Institute Artist in Residence for Fall 2016 receiving studio space at the Nicols Tower on Chicago's West side.

During the residency, Pope met weekly with community members to develop and produce a community wall quilt.

Participants included Senior citizens, youth of Holy Family school, youth of UCAN, and boxers from THE BLOC @ DRW High School. Each contributed ideas, voices, dreams, words of wisdom, and vision.

The wall quilt was installed temporarily at Monique Meloche Gallery ON THE WALL Community Project and will return to the community to be permanently installed Spring 2017 at Nicols Tower in North Lawndale.
