IT'S STILL THE SAME IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD

IT’S STILL THE SAME IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD performed in collaboration with Lady Lake Shore Drive is the first of a series of performances calling attention to the AESTHETIC STRATEGIES TO MAINTAIN POWER. In this first performance cleanliness is identified as the sidewalks are literally whitewashed as if to wash away the blood from the night’s shootings before the neighborhood wakes up. Simultaneously, Lady Lake Shore Drive sings out spirit songs calling and speaking with the spirits that were lost during the violence of the night.

By keeping the city clean, there is the illusion that there is order, that things “aren't as bad as it may seem…”
